Thank You April Work-Weekend Volunteers!!

By Captain Korie Griffith

Hello Adventuress Rock Stars!

Thanks for coming for our “final push” work weekend. So much was accomplished to not only ready us for splash, but also for the upcoming sailing season. Thanks to all your efforts and good weather we were able to splash Adventuress on Monday afternoon to much fanfare. While we only splashed a week late, it was so great to finally get the old gal back in the water in better shape than ever!

Here’s a list of what we accomplished (though I’m sure I’m missing some things!):

· Medical Inventory
· Cleaned focsle
· Cleaned main cabin
· Cleaned heads
· Cleaned galley and dry stores bins
· Loaded deck boxes, rigging, safety gear
· Bottom paint touch-up
· Paint port topsides
· Varnish Ayashe
· Load mattresses
· Set up Jefe and test run
· Varnish deckhouse and main skylight
· Rig headrig
· Hook up main engine intake through-hull and grey water plumbing
· Measure for aquarium retrofit
· Steve’s woodworking projects

Since the work weekend, we’ve had good weather and have gotten so much done. With help from Captain Wayne, the Puget Sound Voyagers and some local riggers, we got the topmasts up, Ayashe in her davits, and the mainsail and foresail bent on. All the big stuff is done! This week we’ve got a bunch of details left to do, but for the most part the ship is ready to sail Friday!

Also, a friendly reminder to “VOTE FOR THE BOAT” so Adventuress can win a $100,000 for next winter’s restoration work. For us to win you (and your friends) need to vote every day for the next month. See our website for more info (

See you out on the water...
